The PDF text layer is read several independent ways. Scans and photos go through on-server OCR — nothing is sent to outside services.

Several readers compete; the reading where the most rows tie to the running balance wins. Rows are put oldest to newest.

You see which rows are proven, which were adjusted (with an image of the printed line) and which need your eye. Fix anything in place.
